I have been eyeing the Clare V. leopard foldover clutch ever since I used “animal print” as the A in my Fashion Alphabet blog post and even more so now that it’s fall . Leopard is always a must and a leopard clutch or shoe is really the cornerstone of a well appointed wardrobe (see my How to Wear Animal Print) blog post. If I were going to build a 100 piece capsule wardrobe I would absolutely, unequivocally include the Clare V. leopard clutch. Clearly many of you agree because in the past week between when I started this post and finally sat down to finish it, Nordstrom has sold out.
The biggest compromise you will make when selecting a lower price alternative to a leopard slurge item will be the calf hair. Any leopard clutch under $100 will most likely not be genuine calf hair. You can get a leather clutch under $100 but it won’t be the the same texture and hair that you will see on a leopard clutch over $100. I also really like a gradated color on my leopard prints and I was able to locate a “spend” bag that included the same gradation I love on the “splurge” bag. Take a look at the links and see the differences for yourself.
